Yep! According to the Advertising Specialties Institute, the US government used promo products as part of their advertising efforts to encourage and remind households to return their 2010 census form. The awareness campaign resulted in a lesser need for census workers going door-to-door to get info, thus saving taxpayer money. About $22.7 million was spent on promo products for the census from mugs to t-shirts to water bottles and more, totaling an estimated 62.5 million promotional items. So far about 72% of the nation’s households have responded (an already greater response than the 67% total response rate from 2010)!
